Dear Australia,

Why is it raining ? And cold enough for me to wear jeans?

There is something seriously wrong with the weather. Its NEVER usually below like, 30 atleast in december, january and february.

Whatevs. (I know.. i probably shouldnt say that aloud/write it in a public space)

Anyway, nothings really going on at the moment. Big Day Out has been and gone :(.. but was ammmazzzing by the way.

It was my mums birthday the other day.. and because I'm the best daughter in the world, i gave her what she really wanted... SUSAN BOYLES CD. i know, its laughable. Oh and a home cooked meal by myself.

Chose my own version of Paella, as I have a fond memory of it from Barcelona with Sophie!

OKKK, lets be honest, the photo looks shit. But since when is anything similar to Risotto glamourous.

If your wondering what it is, goooogggllle it, im sure youl find a recipe.

Or if you cant be bothered.,, just put like: Onions, Garlic, Assorted Vegetables (i chose Zuchini, Peas, Carrot, Tomato etc), Lots of blended tomato, Fish Stock, White Fish, Prawns, rice.. and I cant remember what else.. but put it in a flat bottomed pan and cook it.

Anyway, it tasted good. Not as good as the super salty traditional one we had cooked for us by an amazing chef.. but still delicious!

And thats about all. Except

This is an Orb spider.

I was about 30cm away from having that on my face. You can imagine my reaction so I wont go into details.

Its not all that huge, only like half the size of your palm, so it could be worse. But still, faces and spiders should never mix.

And thats your lesson on arachnids for today.

So; as all of you fellow Aussies know.. its BIG DAY OUT TIME :)

and Adelaide - it was our turn yesterday!

so many amazing performers such as LILY ALLEN (big love, if you can't already tell!) Ladyhawke (amazing NZ artist) Kasabian, Blue Juice, Midnight Juggernauts.. Peaches! JET.. and the lovely Lisa Mitchell :)

It was a pleasant 28 Degrees Celsius or so.. (even though my sunburnt shoulder is telling another story..) and it was truly an amazing day :)

As mentioned in the previous post, I (Hannahhhhh) went cliff jumping the other week with a group of my boyfriends mates and just saw some photos from the day! and yeah, i did unfortunately cut my foot quite badly... but well, when you see the rocks its kinda easy to understand how i did it.

ANWAYYY.. aim of the game is to jump from where the top guys standing. and hope for the best. You can jump from a lot higher, but im not quite that brave.. or idiotic like the boys.

So yeah, thought id share them,, mainly to make people experiencing cold weather jelous :)

Oh and today was my birthday,, the ancient age of 19 has dawned upon me.

AND LOOK AT THE CAKE I WAS BAKED BY SOME FRIENDS.

Its two layers of banana and creamy goodness.. and its huge. well it was.

Theres not much left :P

Dinner Date

Just a quick post :) Had a lovely mexican dinner date with the sweetest boyfriend tonight. Im really struggling getting dressed in the mornings with this heat.. Adelaide is currently in a heat wave :( Today was an unpleasant 40degreesC (104F).

Ok, i lied, i didnt actually wear the heels :( it was my plan, but unfortunately yesterday i sliced the bottom of my foot open on some rocks while out cliff jumping (photos of that another time!) so i stuck to flats.

And please notice the awefully embarrasing blotchy sunburn on my legs.. i dont know how it happened!

And you may just notice..or not.. that i got a rather shorter haircut while in europe.

GREETINGS TO THE NEW YEAR !

Dear all!
THIS IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. jokes, im not a huge fan of cliches etc.

But on a sentimental note; Welcome to 2010, a year which will no doubt create many amazing memories for everyone and I hope will be better than 2009.. which i almost think is impossible because it was pretty amazing!

But yes, after the most amazing, expensive, adventurous, eye-opening (etc) 3.5 month experience of our lives, which took us to a total of 18 different countries, Sophie and I have now returned back to the comfort of home, Australia ! Which we missed dearly!

We have been back exactly 2 weeks, which has absolutely flown by.

I (Hannah) dont really have any christmas day photos to share.. i was the one behind the lense. But New Years I have a few! My new years wasnt like usual,, as it was also my boyfriends 21st party.. no, sorry no fashionable dresses to show,, because it was a CAPE PARTY!

Please admire his cape, Gemma and Myself spent forever and a day making it.. was totally worth it, looked amazing., if i may say so myself.

and the sad thing is.. that I was so excited Sophie was coming.. but then she spent new years at home looking after a sick boyfriend of her very own :(

Europe.. longest post ever,

Hello blog world.
So; it has been over 3 weeks since our last post, so we apologise as this will be painfully long!

On the 19th of September, we begain our 'European Getaway' with Topdeck tour company.
the trip was in total, 20 days long and we had 43 people in the group!

DAY 1 & 2: we drove from London to Paris, beginning with a night tour then spent the next day getting lost (literally in our case) in Paris, finishing with a picnic under the Eiffel Tower, and watching a traditional Latin cabaret show at night.

Day 3 & 4: off to Switzerland! (our FAVOURITE place!) a tiny village called Lauterbrunnen. We went for a bike ride the next day.. up in the mountains. It was beautiful! But - Sophie, being the horrible bike rider (my dad would be ashamed!) she is, struggled. But, after a hard day, we finished up with a bottle of French Champagne and a night walk into town, only to find the worlds best VENDING MACHINE. everything from pizza and chocolate to cigarettes and condoms :)..

and Cannabis Tea! - which is actually nice! believe it or not!

DAY 5 & 6: From Switzerland to Nice, French Riviera :) We went to beautiful Nice. it was SO HOT. we had to run before dinner to H&M to find some dresses just to keep us cool! We had dinner and then went to Waynes Bar! - an Australian bar! which was nice for us Aussies! The bext day Han and i spent doing laundry (more complicated than it sounds :S) and a bit of shopping :)

DAY 7 & 8: on our way to Italy! We stopped in Pisa.. took some lame but must-have Pisa photos... and enjoyed the fresh air before getting back on the bus to go to Florence!
We had a guided walking tour of Florence in the morning then spent the afternoon eating Gelati and looking through the rows and rows of markets! We then went back to the Camping Village and indulged ourselves in pizza and pasta!

DAY 9 & 10: ROMA! in the morning we explored the hilltop city of Orvieto, which was beautiful! then in the afternoon, took a walking tour of Rome, visiting the Spanish Steps.. the Aqua Duct.. which, i will add, Hannah FELL INTO. infront of a lot of tourists. :) then the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum! The next day we spent in the Vatican. We got a bit lost.. for a few hours.. not being able to find the exit! the Vatican was beautiful.. but i think we saw each room a million times over before finding our way out. so; a lot of Gelati and pasta later.. we took a good look in all the designer shops.. dreaming away.

DAY 11 & 12: Venice! On the first night.. we had a Toga Party! in the camping village pub - so much fun! :) and the next day.. Canal Cruises and wandering through the various shops in Venice :)

DAY 13: AUSTRIA! We had the option to do Canyoning!! so, four of us absailed down waterfalls, jumped from high rocks and slid backwards into pools.. and it was amazing! Austria was so beautiful and we were dissapointed to only spend one night there!

DAY 14 & 15: Prague is so beautiful! an amazing hostel and the buildings were just so beautiful! We spent the day roaming the streets.. and looking in the huge Gothic Castle looking over Prague. A cheap dinner with 2 of our amazing topdeck friends.. definately a 2nd favourite!

DAY 16 & 17: Berlin was great! another great hostel.. and we did a walking tour, going past a lot of Nazi buildings and Hitlers bunker. It was all so interesting to see! and DINNER. argh.. we have to RAVE about dinner. We went to a place, just accross the road from Wombats Hostel called 'Good Morning Vietnam'.. and it was SPECTACULAR. amazingamazingamazing food!

DAY 18 & 19: Amsterdammmm.

what more can we say?

what goes on in Amsterdam. Stays in Amsterdam.

not to worry, we did go and see the Anne Frank museum which was very interesting! if you are ever in Amsterdam - it's a must see! Her story is so sad..

(oh! but the 'coffee shop' we are in.. Brad Pitt and George Clooney filmed part of Oceans 13 there!!)

DAY 20: BACK TO LONDON. it was so sad leaving everyone on the tour.. especially becasue we hardly got to say goodbye to anyone! but it was such an amazing trip. Both of us are so glad we went on it, fantastic people and saw all the amazing sites :) :)

LONDON: So, we had a few days spare at the end to roam London a bit - saw the essential Oxford Circus and Buckingham Palace.. but we were in the end, very happy to finally get back to Bath :)

and thats us for now! we'll try and post a few more times in the coming weeks...!! If we actually have anything interesting to say!

we are planning for lots of R&R :)

Europe Week 1

Dear all,

Hello from Bath (England)!

First off.. apologies to those who arent are family and who dont care about massive ramblings.

This will be just a brief summary of our past week in England and a few photos to brighten it up a little bit.

Well first off, we left at a rediculous hour from adelaide (thankyou friends and family for making it down to farewell us anyway!). We then flew to Sydney and spent half a day sitting in the airport drinking coffee and eating which wasnt too bad!

Then we had a flight to Bangkok -- also not too bad. Unfortunately the stop over was only a very brief 30 minutes so we werent able to see the lovely airport in as much detail as we would have liked. BUT THENNN.. Once on the plain all set to take off to London on time.. some valve was faulty in the plane and needed replacing.. 3 times or something. But long story short.. We sat on a plane, for 4 HOURS IN DISGUSTING HEAT WITH LITTLE TO NO WATER OR AIRCONDITIONING. yeah, it was aweful.. essentially, we have learnt; do not fly british airways.. ever. Theyre aweful in every single way possible. In no way are we annoyed that the plane needed something replaced ; this is understandable, and we are very thankful that they take the safety warnings from the engine seriously.. but just their service and treatment of passengers in this time was disgusting.

Ok.. well after that stressful time, we landed safe and sound in Heathrow and were greeted by Hannah's Aunty Sue who took us back to her lovely home in Bath.

And for the past 5 days we have been exploring the streets and shops !

the streets of Bath are so breathtakingly beautiful! It feels as though we have stepped straight onto a movie set.. and the only things missing are the corsets and lovely romantic men to sweep us off our feet? haha.

we actually had some time to have the traditional Cream Tea - scones with jam & cream :) we also saw the fashion museum (AMAZING :) -- for us anyway!) and the Roman Bath's! OH and we have been doing a lot of shopping! Topshop IS amazing.. and we have made some purchases........... and some 'maybe i'll get this later' thoughts.

AND. WE GOT TO TRY ON CORSETS IN THE FASHION MUSEUM. which -
i (sophie) am not ashamed to say.. has probably been my highlight! :) how Keira Knightley!

anyway; we off on a Topdeck tour of the many countries of Europe! beginning in the wonderful France! :)

so; sorry for the dis-jointed post! we are trying to upload photos.. and pack.. and a do a numerous amount of other things!

Well hey theree :)

Ok,, so soph and I leave in approximately 36 hours!! (currently 1:43am) .. yes i know, its late.

And no, we are not organised in the slightest. havent even put a single item of clothing in my bag or anything. Friends and family of mine are probably muttering 'typical Hannah' or something under their breath.

But I just thought id just post a quick map of where we are going. Most of these destinations are on our tour but some we are visiting on our own. Anyway.. yeah those massive red dots .. thats where we are heading.

Yeah, i know, i could have done a better job than that, but you get the general gist anyway.

Anyway i need to go to bed. Soph and I plus our significant others are meeting for bruch tomorrow.

And then im apparently playing golf.. we'll see how that goes haha

A little late i know, but these are some photos of us from the weekend. We were attending michael's 21st.. hes the brother of dan (sophs boyfriend) and a bestfriend of Jared (Hannahs boyfriend).. small world isnt it!

Happy first say of September everyone.

er and went down to Norwood and saw a movie.. (Inglourious Basterds - if your a Tarantino fan - i say great movie.. if you have a weak stomagh, DO NOT SEE IT.)

and i fell for this jacket in 'Sooki' (probably one of my most favey shops EVER.)

These shoes are my formal ones - and something i struggle with wearing. (Trust me, in our home town, 'dressing up' is wearing a nice jacket and even putting some flats on :O so we get a few funny looks wearing anything but 'the norm')

flowers and ticking clocks

Hello :)

Today was my first day off in FOREVER. so i decided to spend it with my family.. shopping and what-not :)

I was in desperate need of a lightweight sleeping bag (for Europe, naturally.) and i got a perfect one in bright orange, so pretty happy!

i also bought this dress;

it was $25.. and i got it in the 'blue' pattern.. i'm thinking, perfect for my non-existant spring/end of summer wardrobe :)

but i was looking for a skirt initially, and the bottom part of this dress is perfect! (trust me; it looks better in real life)

anyway; after seeing my extended family for the last time until Christmas, i'm pretty exhausted. We talked on Skype with our cousins in Queensland, which was amazing. :) i miss them very much.

so; 20 sleeps to go.

very unorganized in regards to WHAT we're actually doing in Europe.. but i'm sure it'll get there.

Well hello there :)

As per usual, Sophie and I have been working a lot. Well actually, Soph's working like, 50 hours a week which is LUDICROUS! But soon we shall reap the fruits of our labour,, actually in about 22 whole days to be exact :O YAYYYYY!

The hardest thing for both of us, is not spending our money on clothes. I mean, i don't know the last time i bought something just cause i liked it. When i see something i like in a shop, its then followed by my brain trying to justify my need for say, a great pair of $100+ shoes.. and then i walk out after i realise that i cant afford non-essentials. After all, if i need them, why would i buy them in Adelaide when i can buy them in London or Paris or Barcelona or.. you get the picture. (just trying to rub it in) haha

But the other day my cheap black flats literally fell apart. So i went to kmart :) and was actually impressed that i found something i really liked for $30.

Second to my latest love of sequins, is beading so well done kmart! Andd because they were cheap, i can justify throwing them away if i find something i like more in london and dont have suitcase room!

And, on an equally important note, how pretty are these flowers from the garden!

today, I was lucky enough to receive some mail... (it's rare to get something other than bank statements.. and they can hardly be considered exciting.)

but Hannah and I got this beautiful little note from our friend, Bambola at Bambola's Diary

On the back, she wrote a note, wishing us well for our trip!
after 12 hours of working in customer service, it's reassuring to know there are generous and loving people out there in the big bad world. :)

so THANKYOU LOVELY! you have made my day... my week! It means a tremendous amount to us, and we appreciate it so, so much! you are amazing!

this was pieces of photography from my year 12 design work. I didn't use any of these for my major practical - but Hannah looks very pretty so, on the blog they go!

the first was an unintentional shot.. haha. Hannah had actually mysteriously cut herself.. and the wind was very strong..
We took these at a place called 'Fairy Land Village' - totally deserted when we were there, it's a series of little houses with odd set-ups of various fairytale stories.
kind of creepy, really.

OH. and THIS WAS HANNAH'S AMAZING FORMAL DRESS.

Hannah and I attended one of our friend's 18th dinner tonight.
we saw 'Public Enemies' - which we personally - don't think was anything to rave about. a lot of guns. and not the man kind. (though, Johnny Depp IS on the 'who i'd like to marry list')

anyway, after our dinner of a 'vegetable stack' - being the undedicated picky meat eater vegetarians that we are. (delicious!)

we then proceeded to take classy pictures in the bathroom..

My Aunty and Uncle are currently staying in my Uncles grandparents house.

It's up on one (of the many) hills in Adelaide, over looking the entire city.

It's an old house, with so much potential. the first picture is on some wallpaper in one of the rooms.

wow, do i ever hate self timer on my camera..

i just feel so silly!

i don't know how every other blogger can do it.. (so, secrets?) i guess having a willing friend/husband/boyfriend helps.

anyway, i did this quick post becasue i went shopping with my friend today.. clearances of clearances are amazing and i got this fabulous jacket for $30.. plus a jumper ($20) and a very large sportsgirl t-shirt ($10)

essentials; naturally!

i was looking everywhere for decent jeans. but i'm nearly as picky with my jeans as i am with my bags.

Hi; so, we've been lazy.. and boring.. and not really had anything else to say..

so, because we're so poor.. and unlike the rest of South Australia, couldn't go to the infamous 'Flashies' (on Wednesday night).. the 'mid week hip and happenin' hot spot for committed townies', we decided to have our own little funs at home. testing out bartending.. skills. or attempts

The ever - so - strong milko drinks - that may or may not have made us feel a little ill.

As promised, Sophie dearest did indeed wear her cream leather pants last night!

She did actually try and work her way out of wearing them but, rest assured, i did resort to a guilt trip and won the fight gloriously;;; "but weve both blogged about it and promised you would. We cant disappoint people like that." yessss!

Unfortunately, however, neither of us had a camera so had to resort to my phone, which doesnt really do the pants the justice they deserve. Oh well, what can you do. Make sophie wear them again sometime??? well that is a possibility. But for now, well just have to deal with it.

If only you could do a web-wolf-whistle.

Last night was our dear friend Jessicas 19th birthday! (Shes below on the left!) so we went out to the local pub for dinner and drinks which was certainly a lot of fun!

i found my 'Shopping Chic' Barbie today.

my boyfriend proceeded to put her in my martini glass and pronounce her 'Dita Von Teese'.

I bought some new shoes! It was a toss up between these lovely sportsgirl tan leather laceups and these from betts shoes ;

I decided to go for the sportsgirl shoes.. yes i know, soon everyone will have them, but i dont care :) Besides, the Betts ones were only acrylic which i thought was silly for the price.

Today was a reasonably good day,, finally vacuumed my bedroom! And met up with a friend for coffee.

I wore; - Bardot blouse

- Sass and Bide jeans

- Sportsgirl shoes

I thought i looked a bit plane-jane but i did get a few people looking me up and down; due to living in such a small town, where people wearing anything other than a cotton on mens jumper (girls included) and skater shoes is rare. I'm certain I wasnt just being paranoid.

I did enjoy my day off though.. its a rare occurrence to have a whole uninterupted day.

(thank goodness for photoshop making panorama images so easy to do!). Something about the beautiful green grass in the overcast weather made it seem special. Considering just a few months ago it looked a bit like this ;

yes please excuse the landrover and family, its the only photo i have showing the summer dried hills. Yay, cold weathers on its way! Well actually, its already here. Now at least we have an excuse to go buy winter clothes :)

Sophie and I spent our Saturday night with our favey girls for a night of extravagant dancing in our wonderful capital city, Adelaide.

We had the most magical time; impossibly high shoes and our own personal economic recessions certainly didnt spoil any aspects whatsoever! Although, have to admit, sitting down and resting our feet was a highlight!!

mum & I (Sophie) went to an 'Emma Page' night last week. (Emma Page is a beautiful jewellery brand my mum is connected to via Amway) it was really good, the speaker was an 'image' specialist.. i think.

anyway, she taught us about the right way to wear jewellery and clothes with different patterns to suit our body.

but the first speaker said.. probably the one thing that.. in all my life of listening to public speakers.. hit me hardest.

oh, and my next purchase ;) Euphoria baby!

so, obervations of this week..

5 questions a 'checkout chick' should never..;

1. ask a mother, kids with her, on a week-day morning - "how are you?"

2. ask a man.. say, around 60 or so.. "do you have fly buys?"

3. ask a lady, aged around 60ish.. "do you mind how heavy your bags are packed" (even if they have 50 items.. and ONE green bag.

4. a smoker - "sorry WHAT kind of cigarette was that?"

5. ANYTHING about meat.

i have come to the conclusion.. i have a love/hate relationship with green bags.

so, onto more enthralling things..

i bought a jacket i have been 'eyeing' off these past few weeks in a friends shop..

While everyone worked away in their offices, cafes and shops, I (Hannah) was lucky enough to spend three days in the beautiful Flinders Ranges as a leader on a year 10 school camp. Three days of perfect scenery, could I ask for anything better!? Well actually hiking the millions of steep hills with 20kg on my back could have been improved upon with say, an escalator, but the view from the topwouldn't have been nearly as rewarding! Excuse the less than average quality photos; I only had my phone camera which didn't really do the scenery it's much deserved justice. Well all in all, it was such a brilliant trip! We had perfect weather and the group of students were almost all lovely!

It was also good preparation for the 5 day Grampians hike that I will also be leading on in a weeks time ! hello excitement!!

it's a rainy Sunday afternoon.. i'm pretty much in my element.

Rain and sesame snaps alone are possibly the two best things in the world. (this week)

so, i (Sophie) went shopping

yesterday with my boyfriend, to IKEA and Harbour Town, had an amazing day.. and he came home about $750 lighter.

after buying a desk and a awesome chair, for the desk, he decided to go all out and purchase a $250 leather jacket.. and i will say it, i am very impressed.

kudos for boyfriend.

i was quite happy also, having purchased a lovely All About Eve hoodie and HAREM pants, finally! though, boyfriend's comment was.. let's just say.. a litle negative.

so, i work with a girl called Lauren who had the biggest album collection on Facebook that i have ever seen.

it's her 'project 365'

her friend and her have made a deal to take a picture everyday for 2009, hence the '365'.

she's a gorgeous girl, and takes fantastic, entertaining photos!

so, Mothers day on Sunday was spent walking around the Torrens River in Adelaide.

My (Sophie) family does it every year..

supporting breast cancer and we get a pretty good 'goodie bag' at the end (Y)

So now I want a leather jacket, red lipstick, a new floral dress and some glitter to stick to my forhead :)

Hannah & I watched 'The Edge of Love' and completely fell in love with the clothes!

Sienna Miller & Keira Knightley are so very beautiful and though the movie wasn't all that fantastic, their acting and unfailing beauty truly made it worthwhile.

i LOVE the yellow cardi worn by Sienna and we are both quite envious of their amazing hair.

I like the poems by Dylan Thomas. there is a sense of absurdity in them, but the imagery and feeling is so heartfelt, it's difficult not to enjoy them.

On my birthday, i attended a my mum's cousin's wedding.

It was beautiful. A traditional Greek Orthodox wedding, in a Greek church with wonderful lights and pictures.

Joanna's dress was perfect. and very similar to the one i made in year 12 textiles. A beautiful chiffon fabric with, i guess you could call it, 'diamante' straps. gorgeous diamond earrings and hair piece.

so, if a bride is supposed to look like a 'princess'.. she definitley played the part!

like Shakespeare said; "journeys end in lovers meeting"

but really, the journey just begun.

On saturday, sophie and I had a loovely date day ; some fantastic mexican lunch, a movie and a touch of shopping. We managed to also stumble across these gorgeous flower hair pins in a cheap accessory shop and bought one each (due to our own personal economic crisis!). $3 well spent id say though. Anyway, felt like a bit of simple golden flora to make my all black work outfit a tad more interesting. The gold earings are my mums from goodness knows how long ago, and ive adopted them as my own !

We saw "The boat that rocked" and loved it. Its not for everyone but the music was fantastic and the cast was perfect.
